on the train to see some trains

Yesterday we went on the train with some home ed friends to the National Railway Museum in York. The museum is close to the train station and is free in, although we did buy a train activity book.

The sprogits all had a great time racing about seeing all the different trains. We looked at a few before monopolising a section of floor to eat our packed lunches, and then went outside to play in the play area for a bit. When it started spitting we came back inside and wandered around looking at a few more trains. Eventually most of the sprogits settled down playing with some activities and toys that were set out in the middle of the Great Hall - there were train stories; duplo trains and track; brio trains and track; bricks to make a town; plus lots of dress up stuff, hard hats and cones etc for role playing.

Needless to say, we all slept very well last night. However, I've woken up with a cold so am not feeling great. Our playdate for today cancelled so we decided to have a jama day. I did feel better when the postman arrived and brought us a parcel which had inside it two new bats to replace Tiny's bat that was lost in the park last week. I must confess they are not nearly as cute or as cool as the original bat, but they have made a little girl very happy :)
