Flexibility.
On Monday morning, Little Clanger missed her chair while sitting up for breakfast and landed on her coccyx on the floor. She couldn't bend, or lean, or sit down, or walk quickly/run without being in pain so we decided that gymnastics would be a silly idea. She was still complaining of pain on Tuesday so we skipped meeting some other home edders in town as well - a shame but she needed to rest more than we needed to see people. The fact that we can just cancel everything with no worries about people disapproving of it is really nice. In fact, I don't even have to explain... I can just say that "she hurt her back" and people immediately start nodding and automatically get that the sprogs wellbeing comes before anything else.
Then today, over breakfast, the sprogits quoting Ice Age 4 lead to a whole bunch of discovery (see: the comet that killed the unicorns, pt 1 and pt 2). We were able to follow their curiosity as far as it went, rather than stopping because the prescribed time had run out, or we were scheduled to do something else instead.
So, my thing that I love about home ed this week is that we are able to change our plans at our whim, to take advantage of whatever takes the sprogits fancies, or to step back when things will be too much, without any worries.
