I took a picture of Little...
She has really gotten into the lapbook she is working on, and has been up yesterday morning and this morning so that she can get started on it again. The whole book is nearly finished, I imagine she will be done tomorrow. Then she wants to start on another one on wolves.
Yesterday afternoon we decided we would go out for a walk as we were all getting a bit agitated having been in for a couple of days, so we togged up and pootled off down to the level crossing and arrived just in time for a train to go past. On the way the sprogits told me all their dreams about living on farms, owning pet shops and driving underground trains. Small also said this. When we got home we were all feeling very cold so we snuggled up on the sofa and watched the Princess and the Frog, which we Sky+'ed at Christmas.
This morning Small and Tiny decided they would like to play with the hama beads, so they spent all morning creating things, and tipping them away again, until eventually they made a black angry bird and a pig with a hat on. I've not ironed them yet though so you'll have to wait for pictures!
I spent the morning researching a few things and also created a worksheet for Small that he could match the key words of the water cycle to some simple images. I tried to find a sheet like what I wanted but they were all ones which had gaps for kids to write in the words to label an A4 picture, and Small was very keen to avoid doing what he perceived as difficult writing of very long words. To be fair, 'precipitation', 'infiltration' etc are quite long when you're only 6 ;) If I knew how I would upload it so that others could use it, but I don't know if that's possible on Blogger. But if anyone wants it I'm happy to share it. Anyway, I printed it off and just before lunch Small and I did it, and he understood the concepts very well.
This afternoon the sprogits all watched Ice Age after this photo...
...prompted me to say "it's still green, they headed north two hours ago" ala Sid in Ice Age. They all looked at me blankly, so I suggested we put it on so they could see what I was on about. Just as that finished one of our neighbours that is a friend of Little's came round on her way home from school, so the girls headed upstairs to play shops and dressing up and Small drew some pictures on Paint for a while before going upstairs to join them. Little also showed her friend what she's done so far on her lapbook. She's got one bit where it says "can you guess how many pet cats there are in the world?" and her friend guessed "about 55?" and then when she lifted the flap and it said "more than 500 million!" her chin nearly hit the floor! She was very impressed.
