flags, lapbooks and chocolate brownies

Yesterday morning Small asked shortly after breakfast... "what's the Eiffel Tower?" so Little got out our children's encyclopedia to show him a picture. Then, as almost always happens when they have the encyclopedia out, they started looking at the flags and I suggested they might like to make some of the flags, which they jumped at. Little made Spain and China, Small made Somalia and Libya because that just involved writing the name on a piece of green paper (lol) and Tiny decided she didn't want to make a flag but wanted to draw a picture instead. At this point I would usually post pictures, however, we appear to have mislaid a massive pack of batteries for the camera so at the moment the camera is useless. Pictures will follow when batteries have been located!

After that they played a bit of minecraft. Currently they are experimenting with various amounts of TNT and seeing how much damage they can do. They're also starting to make monster traps, which they are really enjoying.

While each of them was having a turn at minecraft I sat with the other and we printed out the things we have been needing to print for ages but been unable to until our printer was sorted. So we printed Small's front cover and a page about waterfalls, and we printed some cat pictures for Little to stick in to her book. This means that Little's cat lapbook is now finished, and she has chosen wolves and dogs as the topic for her new one and has started collecting her books together to write up notes for it. As soon as I've found batteries for the camera we shall post up pictures of it :) Small's lapbook is slow going, but he has new enthusiasm for it again, so we are hoping it'll be finished soon.

After lunch, we decided to make some chocolate brownies. This was a bit of an experiment, because we don't often make brownies. They turned out rather well, apart from taking ages to cook because the recipe recommended a very small dish to bake them in. Next time we shall use a much larger dish. Again... pictures to follow!
