On Monday morning Little came and got in my bed and asked if she could skip gymnastics because she was feeling really tired. I was glad as I wasn't feeling tip top myself, and could have happily stayed home all day. A definite Monday feeling.
We had a slow morning where we did not a lot, some housework and I spent a bit of time making various important phone calls I needed to make. The whole day needed rearranging because of skipping gym, so I also rang my friend who we were supposed to visit for lunch and asked her if we could postpone until the next day. If I'm honest, after the important calls, I was largely putting off going into town on the bus because I knew just how much shopping we needed to get (and I couldn't spread it out because of reorganising our plans) and I didn't relish the idea of trying to cart home a week's worth of groceries, 3kgs of gerbil food, a huge bag of cat litter and 18 loo rolls all by myself! Obviously when you need to just get on and do something the best thing to do is spend over an hour on the phone to a friend! I then rang my mum and complained at her about not having a car.
We haven't had a car for several years now, but do rent cars when we go on holiday or when it makes more sense to do so for a trip or a training course. Before we moved house, we managed quite well without a car. We were in a location with everything very close - supermarket, park, post office, dentist, doctor, bus routes. Then we moved, and while the house we currently live in is right for us at the moment, the location is not great in terms of actually getting anywhere! Almost every trip requires a bus journey, very little is within walking distance of multiple sprogs. Before we deregistered the sprogs I could ignore most of the inconveniences of being car-less where we live, but since home edding I'm finding it increasingly bothersome. We knew that at some point we would reach a time when it would make more sense to have a car than not to, and I feel that time may soon be upon us.
My mum very kindly offered to take us into town in her car to pick up the shopping I needed (thanks mum!) and had a late lunch with us afterwards, much to the excitement of the sprogs. I did briefly consider not bothering with their swimming lesson either (they would have both been fine with it) but having already paid I decided we should not waste the money so off we went and the lesson went well. We were definitely all in a big of a slump all day though.
