week round up - another busy one!

We seem to be having a run of these!

On Tuesday we had arranged for Little to go with her friend to a book group. Unfortunately, it didn't end up working out so she just went round to her friend's house and having lunch there. Meanwhile, Small, Tiny and I went to my best friend's for lunch. She is like an aunty to the sprogs and I am to her boys. It was lovely to catch up, as it always is, although the sprogs were rather trying in their behaviour. Before we went we visited a couple of charity shops. I love charity shops, and have picked up lots of lovely clothing for the whole family at fantastic prices. The fact that I am benefitting a charity too is a happy bonus!

Anyway, after lunch we traveled back into town as Little and I had optician's appointments. Hers was just a follow up to check her glasses were working as they expected and everything was spot on. Mine was because I suspected my prescription had changed as I've been getting a few headaches again, and I was right. On our way home from the opticians we attempted to visit our local butcher who makes wonderful pork and chive sausages, but his store was inexplicably closed. This is something that happens with monotonous regularity. I believe in supporting one's local tradesmen and businesses but I must confess I have been less than impressed with the way that he conducts business. I'd avoid him completely if his sausages weren't so fantastic! Guess one doesn't need great business skills to make great sausages!

On Wednesday we had a trip organised to Eureka. Again. We go reasonably frequently, simply because the sprogs love it there! We met 4 others home ed families there and had a fantastic time, as usual. Here's some pictures:

On our way home my mum rang and asked if we had any plans for the evening. Reason: it was Podd's birthday and my youngest brother had decided we should celebrate. So after dinner my parents and brothers arrived for tea and birthday cake (and gave the sprogs their second wind), and stayed until around 10pm just chatting.

Unfortunately, just as Podd and I were off to bed, Small threw up. He was also sick again several times again during the night. Something must have disagreed with him, as no-one else has felt or been ill. Needless to say it was a rather fitful night as I was up and down with him various times when he was sick again. On Thursday morning both he and I slept in until about 9am. He managed a bit of breakfast but not much, but perked up a lot during the morning. When I got up Little and I cleaned out the gerbils tank as one of them died (they are coming up for 2.5 years so getting old in gerbil years!) so a clean tank seemed like a good idea. We also moved them from the girls bedroom to the computer cabinet in the living room to try to discourage the cats from sitting on top of the lid and oogling the gerbils through the wire. The sprogs played some Minecraft until Uncle J popped round for a cuppa after he finished work and we had lunch together. Friday was also a pretty chilled out day - the sprogs stayed in their pyjamas and played some Minecraft, watched a film and played together lots.

Today Podd's brother and his missus and daughter came around to visit us. This always makes the sprogs very happy as K is their only cousin and they are very fond of her! They also have wanted to see their uncle since Tuesday when we popped into the store where he works and he wasn't there yet - they went on a trek around the store shouting him and then quizzed the till staff as to where he was and why he wasn't there yet to say hello to them! They stayed for lunch and cousin K fell asleep on Little's knee (which she thought was great!) and all in all it has been a lovely day.
